Colorized Shot of Mount Sharp… ON MARS!
I think this is my favorite of the early pictures from Curiosity.  There is something mysterious and exciting about the mountain in the distance.

Good news everyone, a Scottish team has developed a pizza that you can eat three meals a day, every day, and apparently you wont die!  My childhood dream has come true!  Each pie (or serving I cant tell from the article) contains 30% of an adults recommended amount of vitamins and minerals, and 1/3 of the recommended calories, protein, and carbs.  They achieved this by adding seaweed to the crust, mixing in red bell peppers into the tomato sauce, and some amount of dark magic.  Read the full article at the link below.

Missed the Transit of Venus yesterday?  Me too, I live in North Carolina, so not only did we already have an obstructed view, but it was also cloudy, so I saw nothing.  Not to worry, Kuriositas has collected a great group of shots, both amateur, and from NASA (like the shot above).  Click the pic to see the full gallery.
The Transit of Venus is a very rare event, where Venus passes between the sun and earth, thus obscuring the sun, albeit a very small part of the star.  This action allows the planet to become visible as a small black dot.  Enjoy these, and all the other pictures like them, we wont see their likes again until 2117.  By then we will have flying cars and robot butlers on our moon colonies… right?

Ever wonder what Titan sounds like?  ME TOO!  According to WIRED:

“a team from the University of Southampton in England has used its knowledge of acoustic properties to simulate the sounds of other worlds. The noises, some familiar and some quite alien, represent the rich acoustic diversity in our solar system.”

Hit the link for simulated audio of how Mary had a Little Lamb, flowing and splashing liquid, would sound on Titan and Mars.  SCIENCE!

Crazy tornado’s on the sun, officially blow my mind.  Apparently this is plasma “sliding and shifting” on the surface of the sun.  Taken by the Solar Dynamics Observatory this is the coolest, most terrifying thing that I have seen in a long time.  Click the photo for a link to the SDO page which includes even more mind ‘sploding videos of the tornadoes in action… SCIENCE!

Nasa’s Kepler spacecraft recent found a new planet in the habitable zone!  Here is hoping its not Gungan filled Naboo… from space.com

“The potentially habitable alien world, a first for Kepler, orbits a star very much like our own sun. The discovery brings scientists one step closer to finding a planet like our own — one which could conceivably harbor life, scientists said.”

These are exciting times folks.
