Misguided Geek Friday Tech Update
Quick rundown of the Tech news of the day:
- Barnes and Nobel introduced is Kindle Fire HD competition earlier this week with their Nook HD’s. The 7” model sports a 1.3GHz OMAP 4470, while the 9” HD has a 1.5GHz of the same chipset. Boasting a nicer screen and comparable specs, early hands on criticize the cheap build and lack of supporting features. That said, the price points of $200-$230 for the 7” and $270-$300 for the 9” put it at odds with both the Nexus 7 and Amazon Tablets.
- Trouble in paradise, many iPhone 5 owners reported that their shiny new gadget arrived already showing scuffs and scratches. Apple’s response? That some damage is expected and is normal. I thought the new phone was supposed to be tougher than the old glass encased 4S?
- More IOS 6 fall out concerning Apple Maps, as Tim Cook apologizies saying that Apple is “Extreamly Sorry.” Going a step further, Apple has introduced a “find maps” list to their app store, so that you can find a replacement maps app.
- Its been a pretty slow week in tech news so here is Steve Wozniak’s business card. Got to love the Woz!
Thats another week down, I will have 2 post coming up this weekend, one Today in History 720 that should have went up yesterday (my bad), and another will be my review of The Avengers Bluray that I just got in the mail today, so check back tomorrow and Sunday for more content. Have a great weekend and stay geeky!
