Doctor Who: Town Called Mercy
I finally got a chance to see A Town Called Mercy and once again, this has been a nice addition to this season. The group has a chance to flesh out this very different Doctor, one whom they keep saying has been “on his own too long” but has to this point still relatively been the same Doctor we know and love. There are some great moments showing both his disconnect with Amy Pond as well as his overall disconnect from the “mercy” and humanity that has been bestowed on him through his interactions. It was a lovely little episode, and I liked, even though it was only for a moment, you got to see a little of the wrath of the Doctor, something Tennant had down pat, but Matt Smith has never been able to get his head around.
The most interesting thing I noticed, and at first thought it was just me, but I think the opening sequences are getting darker. I had the other two episodes recorded and just looking at the openings, they seem indeed to be getting darker. I started to dig around the intertubes and found the below on Reddit:
Visual Proof! It does indeed appear as if the opening scenes are getting darker and darker. I have also noticed flickering lights in all three episodes. This could just be wild speculation, but my guess is that this is the thread which ties this season together, the idea of darkness or the lights going out.
What do you guys think, just a coincidence, or a clue to something more sinister?

Amy and Rory’s last episode deals with the Weeping Angels. When the light goes out they can move because you can’t see...
