While I was setting off illegal fireworks, enjoying lots of beer, eating various grilled items, and playing hours of video games on the July 4th holiday, other people were working, like the people over at the CERN Large Hadron Collider. While I was wasting my day away, the CERN physicists may of finially “discovered” Higgs Boson, the long presumed, but never proved particle that, along with the Higgs field, provides a testable theory regarding mass in elementary particles as part of the Standard Model theory of particle physics.
Got all of that? No? Well check out the above video for a fairly easy to understand explanation of the Higgs Boson from CERN physicist John Ellis. If you had no clue what the Higgs was until now, you are not alone, watch these below Brooklynites masterfully fail when asked. Possible NSFW due to language… mainly “I have no F’n idea”.
I thought that third guy had it there for a sec… “an installation?”… I am dissapoint.
